About

What Is This Blog All About?

This blog is about studying smarter, not harder. Hard work is easy, most students with who you are competing are already doing hard work.

So how do you stand out? You need to study differently.

Studying and school-based advice I have heard from students and even professors often does not make sense given what we know about learning and the cognitive processes that underlie it. There is a way to efficiently encode, store, and retrieve information when it comes to preparing to learn and preparing for your exams.

If we use better studying techniques we can study smarter and not harder. That’s what this blog is all about.

Who Am I?

My name is Sean and I am currently a Cognitive Science student at a Canadian University. My passion for learning has led me to research the ways in which we can optimize our learning as students.

My degree includes topics on learning, memory, and attention. This blog is written with the aim of applying principles from what we know about these topics to studying. There is a severe lack of evidence-based studying advice out there and much of what people in this space talk about is only scratching the surface of what we can do.

I believe that learning should be an enjoyable and fulfilling experience. I am constantly seeking out new ways to make the most out of my learning at university and I write about those things here.
